On Idiots, Morons and What McCain Must Think of the American People
Is it just me or does John McCain seem to think the American public consists mainly of morons and idiots? Every time I look at the news he is doing something else that is just completely asinine. And yet he expects Americans to vote him into office. Are you kidding me?
Luckily for him, it was proven four years ago that the American public does consists mainly of morons and idiots. So maybe his strategy is a sound one. But the man really does seem to have more than a few screws loose. Let’s just look at some of the most glaring examples of his recent ridiculous behavior.
First, he appoints a woman who has almost no political experience as his vice presidential nominee. Sure, she’s cute. Yeah, she’s a pitbull with lipstick. But she is not, in any way, the kind of person who should have been brought forward by McCain. If the goal was to capture Clinton supporters, there are more qualified women in the political world that he could have called on. And yet he chose Sarah Palin.
Now that he has chosen her, he is doing everything he can to keep her out of the media spotlight. She has yet to give a press conference, which is the least the American public deserves from a woman who could soon be our Vice President. Instead, Palin gets more play in the tabloids than on the news. As a case in point, the McCain camp did everything possible to keep the media from witnessing Palin’s recent meeting with Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai. Palin barred all print reporters and a TV news producer from the photo shoot of the start of her meeting. It wasn’t until TV news shows threatened to report on the event that they were allowed in before quickly being ushered back outside.
Seems to me Palin and McCain have something to hide. Could it be Palin’s lack of experience speaking with foreign leaders? Hamid Karzai was her first, after all.
Then we have the issue of the debates. First, McCain and his camp fought to change up the rules for the debate between Palin and Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Here are some quotes from The New York Times.
At the insistence of the McCain campaign, the Oct. 2 debate between the Republican nominee for vice president, Gov. Sarah Palin, and her Democratic rival, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., will have shorter question-and-answer segments than those for the presidential nominees, the advisers said. There will also be much less opportunity for free-wheeling, direct exchanges between the running mates. McCain advisers said they had been concerned that a loose format could leave Ms. Palin, a relatively inexperienced debater, at a disadvantage and largely on the defensive.
McCain advisers said they were only somewhat concerned about Ms. Palin’s debating skills compared with those of Mr. Biden, who has served six terms in the Senate, or about his chances of tripping her up. Instead, they say, they wanted Ms. Palin to have opportunities to present Mr. McCain’s positions, rather than spending time talking about her own experience or playing defense
Once again, it looks like the McCain camp has something to hide. And once again, it looks like that something may be Palin’s obvious inexperience.
Now McCain is pushing to have his own debate with Barack Obama postponed. He claims he wants to step away from the campaign in order to focus on the economic crisis facing our country. While that is all well and good in theory, it stinks for the American people who deserve a) a candidate who is willing to step forward and tell the country his plans for bettering it and b) a President who can multi-task.
And speaking of McCain’s take on the current economic crisis, check this out.
(Thanks, Voenixrising.)
I’m sensing a trend here. McCain seems to like ambitious and beautiful women, regardless of what they have done in the past or can offer this country in the future. That’s certainly not the kind of person we need in the White House.
We need someone in the White House who is more than a spin doctor. We don’t need a maverick. We need someone who can get his hands dirty and work hard to better this country. We need someone who respects the American public enough not to try and call off a debate just as the polls are starting to swing out of his favor. We need a President with goals, not a President with tricks. If we don’t get that, we are bound to face a very rough future.
And McCain, with all of his razzle dazzle, has yet to prove he is that man.

I got this via e-mail today. It’s long, but worth thinking about! Here goes…..
I’m against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG. Instead, I’m in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.
To make the math simple, let’s assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.
Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..
So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00.
My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.
Of course, it would NOT be tax free.
So let’s assume a tax rate of 30%.
Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.
But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.
A husband and wife has $595,000.00.
What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
Pay off your mortgage – housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans – what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college – it’ll be there
Save in a bank – create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car – create jobs
Invest in the market – capital drives growth
Pay for your parent’s medical insurance – health care improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean or else
Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back.
And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.
If we’re going to re-distribute wealth let’s really do it…instead of trickling out a puny $1,000.00 economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.
If we’re going to do an $85 billion bailout, let’s bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!
As for AIG – liquidate it. Sell off its parts. Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate. Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.
Here’s my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn’t. Sure it’s a crazy idea that can work.
But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!
How do you spell Economic Boom?
I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion We Deserve It Dividend more than the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC .
And remember, The Family plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.
That video clip makes me feel a little ill.
I know that politicians aren’t exactly known for having strong moral character, but seriously!
My thing about McCain, is that in his experience, he is really good at making plans, but isn’t that great at making things actually happen.
I don’t need plans; I need ACTION!
Speak it!
I’m getting very irritated by the favoritism. Oh, she’s not experienced, so she shouldn’t have to go up against someone who is. WHAT? What’s going to happen when there are serious national crises? Are we going to have say, “oops, sorry, she doesn’t know how to do that…”??? I don’t think I’d ever get a job I didn’t know how to do.
Catrina for President!
I was ecstatic by the “ripping” David Letterman did of McCain last night. It was a “hoot!”
No fan of McCain either! I wanted Hilary dammit!
