On Gentlemen, Perfection and Our Hero Getting (Almost) Back in the Game

It’s time once again for an update on the (mostly) non-existent love life of Dr. Sparky. When we last left our hero (that would be me, by the way), he had decided that swearing off all dates for an entire year was probably not the best idea he’d ever had. However, he was not quite prepared to take the full plunge. And so he decided the best course of action would be to simply sit back and let love come to him. If it did (and he was not too repulsed by the messenger), he vowed he would (possibly) give it a chance.

And that is how our hero came to spend the last three days manically swapping emails with a gentleman who answered his Yahoo Personals ad.

Before you run out and buy a new outfit for the wedding, please keep in mind that said emails have not yet progressed to the point where a date has been set. There has not even been a phone conversation as of yet. There have been messages left by both parties, but a live connection has yet to be made.

There is, however, promise. The gentleman is a very friendly and open suitor with interests in the arts and literature and music. Our hero is impressed by his frankness and blatant desire to get to know all there is to know about dear old Dr. Sparky. He is mildly handsome (at least in his online photos). He uses correct punctuation. He doesn’t like Stephen King, but he does think Party of Five has its merits. He’s certainly not perfect, but our hero has learned that perfection is but a myth.

Our hero has also learned that it can be exciting to get to know someone. But that excitement can easily fade. So while Dr. Sparky is (minutely) optimistic about this new gentleman, he has no delusions that love is waiting in the wings. Hell, our hero is not exactly convinced that love didn’t make its final curtain call years ago.

What happens now is anyone’s guess. Perhaps it will all amount to a steaming pile of nothing. Perhaps Dr. Sparky will find what he’s been searching for all along. Perhaps there will just be a lot of hot monkey sex.

I just figured you’d all want to know that our hero is (almost) back in the game.

Jeremy, I’ve been telling the good Dr. that he’s all that and more for quite some time, attempting to entice him into moving southwest and marrying me forever. But alas…

And to the Dr. himself: there’s nothing wrong with a lot of hot monkeysex. ;-)

Perfection is overrated… it is just more work for you anyways! Good luck!
